In the 7th century, the legendary king BHUTIVARMA established the Devalaya and issued some copper plates but in the long run all copper plates were destroyed. Next in the 7th century, the king Kumar BHASKARVARMA and his brother SUPRATISTHITAVARMA issued six new Copper Plates to Devalaya but in the long run the Devalaya was destroyed. The copper plates discovered while digging the earth near the Shiva temple called " PARIHARESWAR DEVALAYA " in the village Dubi. The copper plates are preserved in the state museum. In the 17th century, a Brahman named Dharmabar, discovered the Shiva ling by digging in his agrofield when the Ahom king SHIVA SINGHA, ruled Assam. The noble SHIVA SINGHA came to know about the Shiva ling , and constructed a temple in the site and donated lands, Prist, pykes, Gayan, Bayan, Malakar for regular worship.
